ABOUT THE LIBRARY
The library occupies a unique place in academic and research in the academic and research activities of the institute. It is perhaps the most unique central facility of out campus. It is housed in a separate three-storied building on the southern side of the main building with a floor space of 4402 sqm. The six reading halls which can accommodate a total of 300 students provide the peaceful and services beyond the physical walls of building, by including materials accessible by electronic means and by developing a modern e-resources library with a variety of digital tools.
Aryabhatta Central Library caters seventeen (17) disciplines comprising fifteen (16) academic departments and department of Basic and Applied Sciences in totality. The Central Library has an enriched collection of documents comprising of print as well as electronic/online resources. All in-house operations in the library are fully automated using the Koha software (22.05.15) that also provides web-based access to the online catalogue (OPAC) of the Library. Seventeen (17) departmental libraries are also connected with the Central Library. These Departmental Libraries are well-equipped with books and other resources.

RULES & REGULATIONS
General Rules:
1. Students should carry Library Membership Card/Student Id always and produce on demand by library personnel/Security Guard posted at the entrance of the library.
2. Users are informed to keep their belongings, bags, books, foods, water-bottles, etc. at the entrance of the main library gate and should take back their items positively before leaving the library.
3. Students should carry valuable items like mobile, laptop and cash, if any, with them.
4. No person shall wear pullover, windcheater, loose fitting jacket, sweater while entering the library with a request to wear tight sweater in winter season.
5. No person shall scribble, damage or make any inscription on books/journals or any other proprietary belongings to Library.
6. Always check your library account after issue/return of book from WebOPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) (https://opac.hitcentrallibrary.com/) You can also verify Wi-Fi enabled mobile to check the library account.
Fines and Penalties:
1.Overdue books (General): Re 1.00 per book per day (minimum fine Rs. 5.00 for first 4 days).
2. Duplicate membership card will be issued against a payment of Rs. 25.00.
3. A General Diary is required to be lodged with Local Police Station for loss of Membership card and an application to this effect to be submitted to the Librarian.
4. Borrowers must satisfy themselves about the physical condition of the book before ‘Issue’, otherwise he/she will be held responsible for any damage or mutilation found at the time of ‘Return’. Borrowers should take proper care of the book in their custody.
5. Damaged/mutilated/lost books are to be replaced with the latest edition along with normal delay fines so levied, or, twice the amount of the particular book (latest edition) with normal delay fines.
6.The replacement cost of one or more volumes in a multivolume set will be the total price of the multivolume set.
Borrowing Privileges:
- B. Tech. : 1st to 8th Semester : 6 General books, 1 Fiction (for 15 days)
- M. Tech., MBA, MCA : 1st to 4th Semester : 6 General books, 1 Fiction (for 15 days)
- Tribal Development Programme (SC/ST/OBC, B. Tech. only): 1 extra book from TDP collection (for 15 days)
SERVICES PROVIDED
Reference ServicesAssistance to users in the use of books, online resources and other collections.
Library members can search library documents and know details about their account with the help of OPAC facility
Current Awareness Services (CAS)
Display of the list of new arrivals/acquisitions , announcements and other library information updates
Circulation Services
Lending/Borrowing (Issuing and returning) of books and other materials (study purpose and overnight use)
Collection of overdue fines
Digital Library Services
Library users can access e-resources subscribed by the Library under this service
Referral Services
When there is a need/requirement for learning material that is not available in the Central Library, the researcher/user is referred to other libraries/sources.
Reprographic/Photocopying/Scanning Services
One photocopying section is on the Ground floor of the Library and also scanning facilities are there in the Library.
Library Orientation Program/User Awareness Program
This aims to help students to better understand the role of the library in their quest for information. It is usually done for the first year Students and Lateral Entry Students.
Wi-Fi Facilities
Wi-Fi facilities are available both on Ground floor and First floor.
